A to Z Blogging Challenge: Z is for...ZEDNIK!!!!

Behold the Awesome that is RICHARD ZEDNIK:

Here's another shot of my future Husband, showing the exact location I would attach myself to him like a sucker fish:

Although he's most known for almost dying from an accidental skate blade to the neck,
He's my own personal happy moment as he was the first of the Washington Capitals in HISTORY to score a goal in a Stanley Cup Finals game!!!!

Just wish my Grandfather had been alive to see it!

I'm very bummed to type that he is "retired" from playing hockey

Although that would give him more time for me....

A to Z Blog Challenge: Y is for Yesterday

is for Yesterday.  I thought about quoting the Beatles here because who doesn't love a classic Beatles song? But the only line coming to mind right now is "ooh I believe in yesterday".  And I do.  Yesterday made me who I am today! I've got 38 years worth of Yesterday's that taught me one more thing about myself and my world.  Yesterdays full of tears, full of laughter, full of living that all made me today!  (We could talk about the today that is shaping my tomorrow but we're past the T's)!!

On the eve of our final post for in the 2013 A to Z Blog Challenge, its apropos to look back at who we were when we started this challenge.  Excited with TONS of ideas!! Ready to take on our own blogs and make wonderful new friends!! We've all had our moments where we dragged a bit.  Our muse took a vaca.  Life pulled us back from our imaginations.  But here we are! Our final 2013 A to Z blog Eve!  We did it!! Yay!!

What was one of your favorite Yesterday's from this challenge?

A to Z Blogging Challenge: X is for We've got your pirate booty right here!

ARRRRR!!!!!

OK, so lately it's been more "AARRRGGHH!!!!???" as work has been EVILLLE!!!
*sigh*

If you want a good reason to LYAO, try changing your FB language to "pirate"

What is it about the swarthy sea birds that makes your heart go aflutter?  Normally, I prefer my men bathed and well shaven, but give me a good Pirate romance novel and *swoon*

For now, I'll blame it on Wesley being the Dread Pirate Roberts ;)  He proved that evil pirates are farm boys in disguise who never run out of one-liners.  WIN!

Once again, FB posts a pic that totally has to do with my blog theme:
Did you know?

If my next 90 posts are all about Johnny Depp, you now know why! ;)

A to Z Blog Challenge: W is for WOW!!

I've had so many WTF? moments this week.  Originally I had started writing about those WTF? moments.  Seriously, it's been a very rough week! In reflecting back, what I really started noticing was all my WOW! moments this week.  Like coming downstairs and seeing that my daughter had made me a cup of my favorite tea! There it was, just sitting on the table, waiting for me. WOW!

Sometimes I wish you all could see/hear the conversations Heather and I have.  There are about twenty levels of WOW! right there ranging from "WTF? you all are nuts!! to AWWW!! that's so sweet"!  I got to email both Heather and her sister this week..about tea!! That was a fun WOW! as they are both so much fun!!!

CW telling me that he loves me and always wants to be with me while rubbing my feet! Seriously, I've been an exhausted cray cray lately.  He should be running for the hills...possibly screaming a bit... not rubbing my feet and professing eternal love! WOW!

Aidan picking weeds for me.  To him they look like purple and yellow and white flowers. I know they are weeds.  Here is my sweet, sweet boy holding up these "flowers" he loveingly picked in the schoolyard..during recess...while all the other kids were running around (and he loves to run around too) he stops to pick flowers for me.  WOW!! Then I was looking at the flowers sitting in the glass of water.  I was running my fingers over them and remembering back to when I was a child.  I thought they were flowers too. I remember finding out they were weeds and deciding I didn't care because they were just as beautiful today as they were yesterday, before I knew.  Somewhere in the last 25 years I started thinking of them as weeds.  WOW! Thank you Aidan! Thank you for reminding me that it doesn't matter what the rest of the world calls them.  What matter is that they make me smile when I look at them.  I smile double at the ones he picked for me! WOW!

I chaperoned Antonia's field trip to Jamestown.  WOW!  Despite being so exhausted, it was fun! I always find it interesting to watch my kids interacting with their peers.  At one point Antonia broke away from her friends, walked over to me, wrapped her little arms around me and said "thank you for being here with us Mom".  WOW!!

What is one of your WOW! moments this week?

A to Z Blogging Challenge: V is for Veruca

"Don't care how, I want it NOW!!!!"

I realize that she was supposed to be a model for how not to act, but she was my frigging hero growing up.  (Explains a lot, doesn't it?)

Say what you will, but that little bundle of fiesty had goals
"I want the world"
Very specific goals
"I want the WHOLE world."
Not to mention a clear vision of what she was planning on doing with said world
"I want to lock it all up in my pocket, it's MY bar of chocolate give it to me now!"

As an over-emotional Taurus child, I felt a bond with Veruca.  I too wanted the whole world and I  was not a fan of sharing.  Unfortunately, when I said "Give it to me now!" I usually ended up in time out.

Seriously, what's wrong with wanting it all?  What's wrong with asking for it all?  Yes, you should probably skip the total melt down temper tantrum afterwards (or risk being labled a bad egg.)

I say embrace your inner Veruca Salt and go after your dreams.

Ironically, this showed up on my FB today:

But, I do remember it getting me a mega butt whoppin'... ; )

A to Z Blog Challenge: U is for Umbrellas

Growing up I never saw the point of umbrellas.  I get it, they keep you dry in the rain.  But there is something so cleansing about the rain.  All the other kids would run inside when it started raining.  I'd take a long walk, rainwater running threw my hair, down my cheeks, dripping on my shoulders and soaking my shirt.  The rain was refreshing.  It renewed my little girl soul.

Then I grew up and got a real job.  One where I had to wear pantyhose and heels instead of flip flops.  They frowned upon showing up to work soaking wet.  I had to invest in an umbrella.  It was a black and white checkered Eddie Bauer umbrella.  I cussed at the price of $15.00.  Fast forward 16 years and the damn thing finally broke! As sad as I was over the passing of my umbrella, I do feel I got my money's worth.  Do the math, that thing cost me less than $1/year.

So back to Eddie Bauer I went and bought a new Umbrella.  $19.99.  Sweet! I thought.  This one should last 20 years.  Then my son got a hold of it.  It lasted about 20 minutes.  He broke it in half.  The metal part.  Seriously.  He's like the Hulk! Except he wasn't angry, just a little excitable.  And he's not green.

I went back to Eddie Bauer and bought another umbrella.  I used it once. I have no idea where I left it.  Karma seems to be targeting my umbrellas now. (which is kind of a bummer as I want a new dishwasher)

Last month I needed some unmentionables.  I was in Victoria's Secret, buying the unmentionables that I will not mention, when the cashier told me that I bought so much I get a free umbrella! (I really didn't spend all that much, I think they were just trying to get rid of the umbrellas...there's not a whole lot of "sexy" about an umbrella)  This umbrella is big and bulky and pink and black.  I wasn't excited about this as it was one more thing I had to carry to my car.  Suddenly it hit me, I just got a free umbrella! Sweet!!

I pulled the plastic sleeve off my new Vicki's umbrella and that's when I saw the price tag.  That pink and black mofo retails for $68!!! Sixty-eight dollars!! For $68 that umbrella better make it stop raining.  Or at the very least, hover over my head so I don't actually have to carry it.  $68 is more than I've spent on every umbrella I've ever owned in my entire life!!! Who would pay $68 for an umbrella that doesn't even have a push button thingy to open it automatically? (please don't actually answer that)

Just to give you some perspective into Christieland, I am trying to talk myself out of spending $60 on an ounce of a new tea from one of my favorite tea blenders in France.  That's right, spending $60 to import an ounce of tea from France that will last me maybe 2 weeks is more reasonable to me then spending $68 on a umbrella.

Do you have any service items whose price appalls you? What items will you splurge on? Do you own an umbrella?

A to Z Blogging Challenge: T is for: THANK YOU A to Z!!!

OMG, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Being a new blog is scary!  When the Good Twin first told me we were going to do this challenge, I was terrified that the older cooler blogs wouldn't want to hang with us...

I've never been happier to be wrong in my life!

Me: It's like we just got invited to sit at the Cool Kid's Table!
Good Twin: That's because we're awesome!

(She's crazy-positive like that!)

Not only did we gain followers *SQUEE!*  Our stats now look like this:
Graph of Blogger page views

Plus we've gotten to meet so many awesome new people and blogs!  My "must read or die" list has jumped up considerably!

I'm kinda (extremely) panicky about what happens after the challenge?  I love having a topic to type about and honestly both the Good Twin and I have become the ultimate comment whores.  Remember when getting mail was cool?  You know, before it became bills, ads, and credit card offers?  Getting comments on here has the "OMG I've got mail!  WIN!" feeling nailed!!!

To the "survivors" of previous A to Z's, how did you stay motivated to post after the challenge?

               ***GOOD TWIN ATTACKS....FINALLY***

I just want to second Heather's comments, thank you!!!  This challenge has been such an amazing and inspiring experience!! Special thank you to JohnnieTwoBrows for throwing down the gauntlet! You definitely know how to tap my Aries!! :) Thank you for all your support!! You totally rock!!!
