A to Z Blogging Challenge: B Is For *Brain uses DICK MOVE*

 “It’s super effective!”

So, the other night I have this dramatic, WTF, nightmare…
I’m at work, and my Boss get’s this email discussing how one of our coworkers has died and we need to remove his name from the org chart.  WTH??? The guy in question is such a sweetheart!  I can’t believe he’s dead and the only thing they can focus on is taking his name off the org chart!  What kind of A-Holes am I working for???
I do some more research and it turns out the guy was on a vacation with his girlfriend and came into contact with something (in a cabin?) that caused him to have a severe allergic reaction which sent him into cardiac arrest.  He never had a chance. L
I woke up completely devastated.  But then other things in my awake day distracted me and I completely forget about the dream.
*wait for it…*
Back in awake land, I’m walking to the Café with another coworker and who do I see walking up the hallway?  Yep!  It’s Dead Guy!  My entire dream came back to me full force!  I was in the middle of gabbing about something (most likely my Mother related) and I went completely silent.  This brought social awkwardness to a whole new level for me.  How does one greet, acknowledge, not run at in dramatic movie fashion and throw oneself into Dead Guy’s arms?  Obviously a tearful “Oh thank Gods you’re alive!” was out of the question.  There he was, Dead Guy walking, and all I could do was walk closer to him in a painful, awkward silence.
I did manage to squeak out a “hello” in passing and then as soon as he was out of earshot, I immediately informed my other co-worker of how my evil brain had offed him the night before.  Luckily, she knows me…
I’ve seen him a couple times since then.  It’s still awkward as hell….

  1. It is hard to shake a dream sometimes. Awkwardness acknowledged.

  2. hahah ;) This is a fantastic post.

I had a dream once where an employee of mine was in my office, completely covered in blood, holding a bouquet of dead flowers, and wearing a tattered wedding dress...
...and I had to work with her that day! So, I said heck with it and told her about it. She had a good laugh.

(I found you through the A-Z Challenge list)

Take care and good luck with the rest of the month!

  3. Man I hate that! Worse is when my wife dreams of something I did and she wakes up mad at me. ;)

Great post. Looking forward to seeing what you do all month.

  5. OMG @Michelle That would have scared the crud out of me! He's not a close friend coworker - more of a guy who works in the same department kind of coworker- I would so tell him if I didn't fear a trip to HR!

  6. @Tim: Don't you hate it when that happens? My Ex was convinced that every.single.movie.ever was written about him and if we watched one with an unfaithful wife, I knew my evening would be hosed :/

  9. Great post! If you end up offing me, make sure I know so I can call in sick to work. ;)

  10. @John: I'm new to the whole offing thing. *hence the Ex is still breathing*
I was a tad nervous when an overly-cute coworker stopped by to say hello. I kept thinking "Brain, don't you even think about offing him!"

  12. Dreams are so weird like that! I dreamed once that John cheated on me - which he would NEVER do - but I was mad at him all the next day because I had felt so awful in the dream!

  13. Came here from the A to Z blog and glad I did.

You make me both sad and glad that I normally do not remember any dreams I might have. I think I would feel just as awkward.

  14. That's never quite happened to me, but I did go to work very upset with a coworker for abandoning me at train station in a dream. It's funny how dreams stick with you like that.

I love the lay out of your blog BTW.

  16. Sooooo funny! You described the awkward moment when you remembered the dream perfectly! This was such funny blog post. I was just stopping by as part of my blog touring homework during the A-Z Blog Challenge.

I look forward to reading your "C" post.

  17. Cue evil laugh... he he he LOVED this post, it really made me laugh (and cringe at the same time). I've had dreams like that... one of my co-workers was actually beheaded in one of them. I told him... I think he thought I'd completely lost the plot!

  18. Yikes, that is scary! But fascinating! Sometimes I dream of my husband leaving or we have a row or whatever and it completely discombobulates me for the rest of the day.
Found you in the A-Z doing a random hop .. wonder what dream you will present with 'C' ...

  19. At least you didn't blurt out "I dreamt about you last night!" Now THAT'S awkward.
